She Remembers
This series of monotypes explores the fragile and unreliable nature of memory and how places, moments and experiences are retained, altered and sometimes slowly lost.
The landscapes are not intended as exact representations of place, but rather as remembered landscapes. Familiar forms remain while details disappear, much like the way a memory can retain its feeling long after its specifics have faded.
The abstract works explore memory as something layered where experiences overlap, obscure and reshape one another. Some fragments remain clear, while others become distorted or inaccessible. It is particularly informed by the experience of memory loss associated with Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Memory isn't necessarily lost all at once; it can become fragmented, altered, displaced and reconstructed.
What remains when the details disappear?
